REFLECTIVE STATEMENT

This final major project was hard for me, especially the financial related stuff. I tried to do a cash flow forecast but I didn’t have any idea how it worked. I’m extremely bad with maths and all those types of things. But I really tried hard to do a good job of this essay. I’m usually a last minute kind of girl, but I made a huge conscious effort to work on this essay little by little because I knew it was a big one. I wanted to make sure I had ticked all the things that were said that needed to be included and I really think I did that. I think this was quite a good project, apart from the fact that literally every brand has done EVERYTHING they can possibly do to expand a brand. They have all done shoes, and hand bags. Even sunglasses. I think the reason why I chose to do a brand that didn’t have sunglasses is because I am a bit of a sunglasses fanatic. I understand the real need for them. I’ve been told many a time that you should wear sunglasses to protect your eyes. I have really bad eyesight, incredibly bad. If I go to university with out my glasses im blind, and I don’t know whats going on, and can never see the board. I can see things up close just not far away. And I never used to wear sunglasses. I used to go out in the sun and sunbathe all day without them. Then I read that, sun actually can cause your eyes A LOT of damage. And Now that I’ve started wearing sunglasses regularly theres no way I could go back to not wearing them. If I sunbathe without them I feel like my eyes are on fire, and just get really uncomfortable.

The problem with doing Sass and Bide is that they are an Australian brand and somewhere I am really unfamiliar with. I don’t know anything about the areas, or the currency, or whats going on down there. I do know that their fashion scene is very up and coming, and their designers are coming out with some of the nicest fashion lines there are today. So I guess that is what made me do it even though I knew it would be extremely difficult. I had to ask friends from back home in Hong Kong about where would be a good place to hold a press lunch. I had to ask about where would people live, what are the trendy areas, where are the suburbs.

I hope I’ve done a good enough job, as I’m not doing my third year. I have felt like I’ve learnt a lot, and maybe I’ve learnt that I still want to see what else is out there that I can do. But I feel like with the two years, I’ll have learnt enough to carry it on with me into whatever profession I end up going in. And hopefully I will do a good job in that, wherever I end up.

TOM FORD AD GETS BANNED IN ITALY

read below post on what Italy said!!!!!!!!

FOR SOME REASON

None of my pictures seem to be uploading, this is probably because my Internet has been up and down for the past week, which hasn't really helped on the whole final major project part.
but I shall keep trying!
I found this quite interesting :

''Italy's advertising watchdog, the Institute for Advertising Self-Discipline (IAP), has banned Tom Ford Eyewear ads from national media. A close-up photo of a woman wearing the brand's sunglasses with a man's finger in her mouth was deemed by IAP to be "markedly vulgar" and, as such, it "transcends the limits of simple bad taste and offends the sensibility" of viewers. In addition, the committee believes the "scene evokes an offending and abusive act against women, which degrades the dignity of the person." IAP also said the sexual innuendo and provocative edge are part of a campaign based on these kinds of images, noting that the brand's Web site itself describes the spring-summer campaign photos as "sexually explicit." Vincenzo Guggino, general secretary at IAP, said the images were banned after publication last month in three magazines, including Italian Vogue. "Fashion companies very rarely present their ads for inspection before they appear in the media," said Guggino. "Our mission is to promote better and more acceptable communication." . source: WWD.com

the pictures will be coming soon (as soon as they FINALLY upload) and then you will see what I mean.
when conducting my questionnaire -
the most remembered ad was the Tom Ford adverts

and it's so easy to understand why -
his images are so OUT THERE, sometimes even SHOCKING.. and sometimes you really wonder - what do certain things have to do with glasses. Like the one's with the crows? I didnt understand that.. did you?

GRAZ EYEWEAR

One of my favourite eye-wear brands - and former KSUBI alum (all those aussie's are intertwined!)

these are the 'Ellery' - It has killed me a little inside that I never BOUGHT a pair of these while I had the chance, as they are now prettttty sold out
They come in an amazing array of colours
and they have the nicest shape - a shape that can suit most faces - although since they are quite big you have to question whether they would suit your style..
