This final major project was hard for me, especially the financial related stuff. I tried to do a cash flow forecast but I didn’t have any idea how it worked. I’m extremely bad with maths and all those types of things. But I really tried hard to do a good job of this essay. I’m usually a last minute kind of girl, but I made a huge conscious effort to work on this essay little by little because I knew it was a big one. I wanted to make sure I had ticked all the things that were said that needed to be included and I really think I did that. I think this was quite a good project, apart from the fact that literally every brand has done EVERYTHING they can possibly do to expand a brand. They have all done shoes, and hand bags. Even sunglasses. I think the reason why I chose to do a brand that didn’t have sunglasses is because I am a bit of a sunglasses fanatic. I understand the real need for them. I’ve been told many a time that you should wear sunglasses to protect your eyes. I have really bad eyesight, incredibly bad. If I go to university with out my glasses im blind, and I don’t know whats going on, and can never see the board. I can see things up close just not far away. And I never used to wear sunglasses. I used to go out in the sun and sunbathe all day without them. Then I read that, sun actually can cause your eyes A LOT of damage. And Now that I’ve started wearing sunglasses regularly theres no way I could go back to not wearing them. If I sunbathe without them I feel like my eyes are on fire, and just get really uncomfortable.
The problem with doing Sass and Bide is that they are an Australian brand and somewhere I am really unfamiliar with. I don’t know anything about the areas, or the currency, or whats going on down there. I do know that their fashion scene is very up and coming, and their designers are coming out with some of the nicest fashion lines there are today. So I guess that is what made me do it even though I knew it would be extremely difficult. I had to ask friends from back home in Hong Kong about where would be a good place to hold a press lunch. I had to ask about where would people live, what are the trendy areas, where are the suburbs.
I hope I’ve done a good enough job, as I’m not doing my third year. I have felt like I’ve learnt a lot, and maybe I’ve learnt that I still want to see what else is out there that I can do. But I feel like with the two years, I’ll have learnt enough to carry it on with me into whatever profession I end up going in. And hopefully I will do a good job in that, wherever I end up.
